<p>We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our Sustainable Transport and Engagement team. You will join an industry leading team with a track record of delivering innovative, and award winning sustainable transport events and projects including the ‘London Walking and Cycling Conference’, ‘Bike Around the Borough’ (Hackney’s flagship cycling event for schools, and various other events and awareness campaigns that support and promote walking and cycling in the borough. You will also assist with Hackney’s trailblazing School Streets programme and be the travel plan coordinator for the Council. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects while also fulfilling a number of core functions.</p>

<p>The Sustainable Transport and Engagement team delivers smarter travel and road safety programmes to influence behaviour change towards safer and more sustainable forms of travel. Working alongside the Senior and Principal Transport Planners, your work will include: planning and facilitating events of all sizes, planning and delivering sustainable travel awareness campaigns, managing behaviour change projects, planning and delivering green infrastructure projects, giving presentations, assisting in travel plan monitoring, delivering the actions of the Council travel plan and assisting with the work of the wider team as required.</p>

<p>What we are looking for is:</p>
<p>Experience with and knowledge of:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>•             Transport planning and the transport planning industry</p>
<p>•             Event management</p>
<p>•             Project management</p>
<p>•             Travel behaviour change theories</p>
<p>•             The different measures aimed at changing travel behaviours</p>
<p>•             Marketing</p>
<p>•             Travel plans</p>
<p>•             A good understanding of environmental and sustainability policy and legislation.</p>

<p>The ideal candidate will also have skills in or abilities to:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>•             Communicate effectively with different audiences through different mediums</p>
<p>•             Liaise with other internal directorates and external partner agencies to deliver joint work and to communicate project objectives</p>
<p>•             Work under pressure and deliver to deadlines on high profile projects, think creatively about projects and events to add value to their delivery</p>
<p>•             Understand plans and drawings and other relevant technical information related to Sustainable Transport projects</p>
<p>•             Have proficient IT skills</p>
<p>•             Have excellent report writing skills required for the preparation of reports and consultation documentation</p>
<p>•             Be willing to attend meetings or undertake work outside normal working hours e.g. evening meetings.</p>
