Overview of the position: The Compensation & Recognition Team is a Centre of Excellence (COE) within the national Human Resources function with services and programs that reach across the organization in Canada. The Compensation & Recognition COE designs and supports the delivery of firmwide compensation programs, incentives and recognition initiatives that are continuously evolving to position KPMG as a workplace of the future. The COE supports employee total cash and recognition programs. This support is enabled through base and variable pay programs, pay compliance, job evaluations, competitive recognition programs, and other programs both firm-wide and through our functions – Audit, Tax, Advisory and Business Enablement. Reporting to the Managing Director, Talent Innovation & Strategic Investments, this role sits on the HR Leadership Team and acts as a trusted advisor to firm leadership in the strategy and design of compensation & recognition programs. The role also serves as the subject matter expert on complex compensation escalation matters involving KPMG employees, balancing risk, firm reputation and the needs of the business. This role leads the Compensation & Recognition COE team in the design and delivery of programs aligned to the strategy. This role leads the annual business planning process for the Compensation & Recognition team, establishing the strategic and operational projects, and manages and adjusts workload based on priorities. In addition, this role works closely with other COE Directors to provide broad HR advice to the business and work collaboratively on cross-functional priorities to enable the firm. This position is eligible for remote work within Canada.
li-remote What you will do Strategy Development Influences the strategic direction of Compensation and Recognition programs and initiatives in alignment with overall business and people strategies. Responsible for the design, market competitiveness and cost effectiveness of Compensation and Recognition programs and initiatives. Establishes key metrics to ensure alignment and measure success that support key business objectives. Stays current on market practices and trends to identify and explore opportunities to continuously evolve programs that maintain market competitiveness at a national and / or functional level. Stakeholder & Vendor Management Partners and influences internal stakeholders including Finance, Communications, Senior Leadership as it relates to strategic investments. Collaborates with HR Centres of Excellence and Geographies to ensure feedback is solicited from employees/partners to deliver on an exceptional employee experience. Oversees relationships with compensation vendors (includes contract & rate negotiation, delivery against service level agreements). Continuously partners with vendors to design and deliver innovative programs and resources in support of the compensation and recognition strategy. Operational Oversight Provides oversight on implementation of strategic and operational initiatives. Leads the development of the COEs communication and education plans to increase awareness and engagement in programs and initiatives across the firm. Identifies opportunities to deliver streamlined and efficient processes through technology enablement. Ensures management of all programs and initiatives are administered in alignment with legislation and internal guidelines Performance and Resource Management Provides coaching and performance management to the Compensation and Recognition team. Supports in identifying opportunities for team members to build knowledge and skills in the compensation space. Determines resourcing needs and oversees resourcing decisions to ensure team capabilities and capacity to meet business needs. What you bring to the role 10+ years in Compensation. 5+ years in a Senior HR leadership position. Experience in a professional services environment is an asset. CCP, CHRL or CPHR designation preferred. Has experience managing large HR development projects, preferably those with national scope. Proven deep technical knowledge of base and variable pay practices, processes, and policies. Proven knowledge of recognition approaches, national trends, issues, and market-leading practices including the design, development and direction of related programs and services.
