The opportunity: KPMG’s Technology Consulting Practice in Toronto is seeking an individual to join the IT Strategy and Architecture practice. We are looking for candidates that have a background in business, data, or systems analysis that are interested in taking the next step to grow into a role of an Enterprise Architect. AT KPMG, our IT Strategy and Architecture practice helps our clients ensure that implemented IT solutions supports their organization’s business goals and objectives. We work with our clients at the highest strategic level to design an organization’s goals, vision, objectives, target operating models, and the IT ecosystem that will support and achieve those objectives. As part of designing an organization’s desired future state, we develop business, information, security, technology, application, and stakeholder architecture models including business rules, policy, and governance. We assess the gap between current and future state, design target state architectures and create the roadmap that will achieve the desired target state. Our projects focus on large-scale enterprise-wide transformation. We also advise our clients on implementing enterprise architecture practices, methods, and standards. Our ideal fit is someone who can combine innovation and design and engage proactively with our customers on a long-term basis across their entire enterprise systems architecture to discover opportunities and drive an on-going stream of deals and opportunity. We are looking for individuals familiar with the system development life cycle who are interested in taking the next step to help implement IT transformation projects. We are looking for an individual that is interested in being mentored to grow into the role of Enterprise Architect and that will help grow our practice in the long term. What you will do Build as-is and to-be business process models using standards such as BPMN to document business requirements Document information management requirements using data models in entity-relationship or UML class modelling notations Document business, data, technical, and application architecture requirements using architecture and requirements modelling tools such as ARIS or Sparx Enterprise Architectand using standards such as Archimate and UML Help deliver new solutions using Agile methods, either as a team member, SCRUM master, or product owner Lead the requirements management lifecycle by facilitating the gathering, analysis, verification, and prioritization of business and system requirements Document requirements in requirements management tools such as JAMA or JIRA Confluence Define business rules in concise natural language Understand and apply requirements traceability methods to ensure proper requirements management. Ensure that requirement statements are complete, consistent, traceable, feasible, and verifiable Oversee and monitor development of requirements into solutions to ensure that they meet client intentions, including quality assurance Manage changing requirements by communicating with project sponsor and project team members on impact of change and alerts project managers and project teams of potential risks and issues of importance Define external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements Assist clients in writing user acceptance test cases and help organize user acceptance testing (UAT) Organize and facilitate requirements and design workshops with large client groups and various stakeholders Contribute to project management activities such as scoping and estimating project efforts, financial forecasting, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures, communicating activity status, as well as escalating and communicating possible issues Contributes to new business proposals and proposal development What you bring to the role Must be eligible to work in Canada Experience as a business analyst, business systems analyst, business systems consultant, senior technical systems analyst, or similar role Demonstrated experience in leading requirements elicitation and documentation Demonstrated working knowledge of a formal project lifecycle methodology, ideally Agile and/or traditional (waterfall) system development Ability to effectively facilitate workshops with stakeholders Ability to give effective and engaging presentations Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Strong skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced, highly dynamic work environment and work under pressure to meet aggressive time schedules A recognized under-graduate degree in engineering, computer science or a related field along with 3 to 5 years of practical experience is required. Willing and able to travel regularly within Canada and USA Ideal candidate would be a quick learner and highly adaptable to new project environments Experience with design and architecture modelling tools, especially ARIS or Sparx Enterprise Architect (or similar experience gained with PowerDesigner, Orbus, MEGA, QualiWare, System Architect, CaseWise, etc.) Experience with programming, and familiarity with building SQL queries Familiarity with methodologies and frameworks such as ITIL, Zachman, TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF, etc Training and/or experience in facilitation methods and tools Familiarity with industries including financial services, healthcare, utilities, public sector Keys to your success: KPMG individuals Deliver Impact | Seek Growth | Inspire Trust and understand that a diverse workforce enables us to deepen relationships and strengthen our business.
