<b>Network Technician</b><br> <br> NES Fircroft is seeking a contract Network Technician to join a major Oil and Gas operator, working from their offices in Norwich.<br> <br> <b>Staff (Permanent) - Norwich</b><br> <br> This is an exciting opportunity to join our clients IT Department based in Norwich. This essential support position provides an active and practical resource providing support for 24/7 onshore and offshore operations for a UK Operator of Essential Services. You will manage and support a variety of systems, working daily to troubleshoot, monitoring your environment, installing, configuring, cabling and labelling, seeing jobs through from start to finish.<br> <br> Strong practical network skills rooted in IP are essential, along with hands-on firewall, security and VoIP experience. This is a demanding yet rewarding role and you will need to be flexible in your approach, the ideal candidate will seek opportunities for continual improvement and think outside of the box to comply with all relevant cybersecurity guidance and regulation. Importantly we are a low-cost operator and are continually looking for methods to support this. This is a collaborative role and as such you will work with support from members of the Group Network Team based in Paris and support from various UK sites.<br> <br> This is a full-time role based out of Norwich with frequent travel to UK Operational sites including offshore assets. You may be called on for out-of-hours business critical events and form part of an on-call rota.<br> <br> <b>Key Responsibilities Include:</b><br> • Project support on Southern North Sea Network refresh (Onshore & Offshore).<br> • Use the IT Helpdesk system to receive requests and carry out troubleshooting and changes to the network in line with Group methodology.<br> • Involvement in Network migrations from serial to IP where the opportunity presents itself.<br> • Network equipment monitoring through PRTG.<br> • Liaise with Group Network and IT department for 3rd line escalation.<br> • Liaise with WAN service providers for installations and issues.<br> • Ensuring assets are recorded correctly in our Equipment database.<br> • Managing backups and spares.<br> • Testing and performing recovery.<br> • Updating network diagrams with relevant changes.<br> • Supporting the offshore Telecoms team with equipment failures and replacement preparations.<br> • Liaise with Telecoms team regarding radio links between sites which carry the network.<br> <br> <b>Requirements:<br> Experience:</b><br> • Cisco IOS switching and routing, OSPF (essential)<br> • Network Security and Firewalls<br> • Monitoring and analysis tools<br> • VoIP<br> • BGP, VRF, mGRE, DMVPN in VRF environment (preferred)<br> <br> <b>Personal Attributes:</b><br> The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have an excellent work ethic, be focused and meticulous. Flexibility is essential, an ability to think out of the box and push their ideas forward.
