<p>The National Trust looks after one of the world’s largest and most significant collections of art and heritage objects set within their historic context. We protect and care for places so people and nature can thrive.</p>
<p>We’re looking for an experienced conservator with skills and interest in preventive conservation to deliver a major conservation project at A la Ronde, Exmouth, for the equivalent of 2.5 days per week.</p>

<p>A la Ronde is an ornamental cottage containing a unique shell gallery and grotto staircase embellished with a cornucopia of different material types, all in need of conservation. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the team securing this fragile historic asset for future generations. You'll be working collaboratively to ensure that the preparation, delivery, and project activities (including interpretation) are achieved.</p>
<p>You’ll be part of a dedicated project team delivering a priority conservation project to transform A la Ronde. You’ll be joining a group of passionate conservators based throughout the South West, and part of our national team of highly regarded Conservators.</p>

<p><strong>What you'll be doing <img src="https://ntprodap1.nationaltrust.org.uk:4443/OA_HTML/cabo/images/skyros/t.gif" rel="no-follow" />   </strong>         </p>
<p>You'll drive the conservation aspects of this transformational project, overseeing consolidation and conservation work on the Shell Gallery and Grotto Staircase as a project workstream lead. You will also support public programming and visitor engagement for the Gallery and Staircase, applying your technical expertise, creativity, and innovation to support and deliver workshops and on-site activities, seminars, and digital/online interpretation. </p>
<p>This role requires a hybrid working pattern, in which you may work from home, from our regional office hub in Tisbury, Wiltshire, and on site at A la Ronde (phasing of hours is negotiable, but must include Tuesdays). Access to transport will be required as a result.       </p>

<p>You’ll be a qualified and experienced Conservator with extensive knowledge of preventive and remedial conservation of collections and interiors, with evidence of working at PACR ‘Competent’ level. </p>
<p> We'd love to hear from you if you have:</p>
<ul>
<li>Extensive professional knowledge and experience of preventive conservation across a wide range of material types, with the ability to apply this to a historic context.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ability to work at pace and make clear, pragmatic decisions to prioritise tasks in complex situations, taking responsibility for your own work and that of others in mixed discipline teams.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ability to facilitate complex logistics of multiple workstreams, monitoring programmes and raising awareness of interdependencies and conservation risks ahead of time, recommending mitigation strategies.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of in situ protections and use in historic interiors, emergency planning and health and safety.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate, influence, mentor and negotiate with confidence and professionalism. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Able to shape and deliver creative experiences to engage visitors and build an understanding of our work, including undertaking and sharing research for interpretation, online and at properties, conferences and professional seminars. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Ability to evaluate information and write reports using Microsoft Office and database systems.</li>
