As a Service Development Engineer, your job is to ensure that our services meet the needs of our customers with the desired levels of reliability, performance, and availability by developing continuous improvements, tools, and automation. We are looking for a new member of our Lifecycle Maturity Engineering team, part of VPS - VMware Platform Services. An LME engineer is someone who can combine both business analysis and engineering skills for Enterprise Product and Service development. LME engineers have a good understanding of both ITSM and Agile Development frameworks, as well as solid experience in SDLC tooling. What you will be doing in that role? · Develop and maintain performant, scalable, and maintainable solutions within the internal services portfolio · Provide ongoing support to existing services with the build-and-operate mindset · Often Interact with other product & development teams, gather requirements & perform analysis to determine appropriate solutions · Actively engage in backlog reviews, code reviews, and operational reviews with a focus on regular delivery · Ensures the success and quality of ITSM and Agile practices by working closely with cross-functional organizational units · Work in a global team with expectations for flexible working hours and sometimes early / late meetings Required skills: · Experience working creatively with Enterprise customers in a consulting or technical engineering capacity, understanding customers' business needs and challenges, especially in the area of service development and service management · Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technologies and be able to configure and develop solutions independently · Ability to use different programming or scripting languages and frameworks to address the specific product needs (Javascript, Groovy, Angular, Go, Python, HTML, CSS, etc.) · Possession of analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving mindset · Attention to detail and ability to deliver and support a quality service experience · Hands-on experience with DevOps and automation, integration, and orchestration tools · Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL or time-series databases · Experience with APIs · Understanding and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines · Excellent verbal and written English communication skills involving constant customer audio/video interactions · Ability to manage documentation, organize and prioritize concurrent assignments · Accurately estimate effort for activities through communication and dialogue · Understanding of concepts like overall system administration, monitoring and logging tools, and telemetry Preferred skills and qualifications: · BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience · Prior experience with industry ITSM technology such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, Atlassian Suite, BMC Remedy or similar · Experience and knowledge of Salesforce development is a big plus · Knowledge and understanding of enterprise IT processes and ITIL framework VMware offers: · Attractive compensation package - competitive salary, flexible bonus scheme, company sponsored mobile phone plan and additional long term incentives · Individual career path - management and technical career growth, enhanced by learning and development program, regular performance assessment, teams of world-wide IT professionals · Healthy work environment - company-sponsored medical program, food and beverage program, sport activities, open communication · Work-life balance VMware has won top honors on several impressive awards lists that profile the best workplace cultures.
