Project Engineer - Civil

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood's Construction & Remediation group is hiring a <b>Project Engineer - Civil </b>who will be based in <b>Port Hope, ON</b>. Specifically, to join the Wood team executing large scale remediation projects as a General Contractor. This is a field-based position and would require candidate to play a crucial part in successful completion of our projects. <br><br> This position is classified as federal nuclear energy worker (NEW). Therefore, candidate must be eligible to obtain Federal Government Reliability Clearance Certificate. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities </b><br><ul><li> Be present on site and be available to promptly support site teams and resolve challenges as they arise </li><li> Ability to interpret technical specifications, design drawings and other technical documents </li><li> Communicate clearly to workers and construction superintendents regarding engineering requirements for construction </li><li> Ability to communicate and resolve issues with challenging stakeholders respectfully and amicably </li><li> Originate new RFIs and coordinate response from client's Engineer of Records (EOR) </li><li> Respond to subcontractor RFIs after consultation with key stakeholders </li><li> Work with the team to propose value engineering solutions that improve safety, reduces schedule and complexity of the work </li><li> Collaborate with construction team, client technical leads, and subcontractors/suppliers </li><li> Lead the technical administration of submittals (with reviews, obtaining proper seals/stamps, ensuring compliance to specification needs etc.) subcontractor and/or supplier submittals between Wood and the client's EOR </li><li> Originate scope of work documents and construction work packages </li><li> Understand and ensure compliance of project to applicable technical specifications, procedures, standards </li><li> Manage the system for tracking various project quantities </li><li> Create weld-maps and red-line drawings </li><li> Track and manage master document registers, including RFI log, risk register and Decision Note log </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience with E.I.T. or P. Eng. registration </li><li> Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in construction environment (civil, remediation, infrastructure) from a General Contractor mindset </li><li> Ability to work outdoors at construction sites, occasionally in challenging weather </li><li> Career interest and growth should be aligned with remediating the environment for legacy sites and cleanup - making the lives of the community and the environment better </li><li> Excellent interpersonal, planning, organizing, judgement, problem solving, conflict resolution, decision-making and communications skills are essential </li><li> The ability to handle a large and varied workload and make timely decisions </li><li> Must have Ontario Class-G or G2 driving licence (or equivalent from another province) in good standing </li><li> Must be eligible to obtain Federal Government Reliability Clearance Certificate </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
