<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to fill the role of <b>Senior Mechanical Designer</b>, based in our Vancouver, BC office. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager and working alongside other team members, you will have the opportunity to provide support on our major projects with the Forest Industries business. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this opportunity is for you. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities </b><br><br><ul><li> Providing design and technical support for the layout, design and specification of mechanical equipment and fabricated platework for industrial plants and related infrastructure </li><li> Plant layouts in 2D and 3D for mining, pulp and paper, thermal power, water treatment, and other industrial plants </li><li> Providing conceptual front end and detail layout design of industrial plants </li><li> Designing and drafting of equipment and auxiliary components in AutoCAD 2D and E3D and/ or other 3D drawing environments </li><li> Reviewing project and vendor documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy. </li><li> Conducting cross-disciplinary design checking for interferences and system integration accuracy. </li><li> Participate and engage in client meetings including value engineering, 3D model reviews, and HAZOP sessions </li><li> Providing discipline and team leadership skills including man-hour estimating, budget control, progress reporting, and scheduling of tasks and deliverables </li><li> Leading work groups or project teams with limited supervision </li><li> Supervising and mentoring junior staff, including assigning work and evaluating technical competence </li><li> Establishing good working relationships and communication with area leads, department managers, clients and other team members </li><li> Travelling to site locations for measurement, design, and construction/commissioning as required </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Design Technology </li><li> 1 0 + years' experience in mechanical design of industrial plants </li><li> Experience in mining, pulp and paper, or bulk material handling facility is an asset </li><li> Proven experience with AutoCAD 2D, and extensive experience in 3D design/drafting </li><li> 3D experience in E3D or other similar 3D environments is an asset </li><li> Effective communication skills </li><li> Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks </li><li> Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
