The opportunity: Our Deal Advisory professionals help buyers, sellers, private equity investors, governments, and lenders in developing and executing on their value strategies. We offer start-to-finish support in the acquisition process, including input on strategy, early identification of risk areas, coordination and execution of due diligence investigations (financial and operational) and provide advice on operations geared to reduce risks and enhance value. We also get involved in assisting our clients with a host of services surrounding closing the transaction and post-deal integration. As Senior Consultant, Performance M&A in our Toronto practice, you are a motivated, self-starter with expertise in finance, strategy and business operations, in a deal environment. What you will do Quantify performance improvement hypotheses, using multiple and/or large sets of financial and operational data Identify synergy initiatives and/or review synergy plans presented by management during merger transactions Estimate additional costs required for the carved-out entity to operate as a standalone business in a carve-out transaction Identify operational risks and upsides associated with a transaction In a post-deal scenario, assist clients with synergy or cost savings tracking, planning, and initial execution Identify, plan and implement value creation opportunities (e.g., optimization of operation, of purchasing and supply chain structures, of workforce, of top-line portfolio and pricing, of cash and working capital positions, etc.) Clearly summarize the results of the analysis (written and verbal presentation), using a structured approach for fact-based arguments Perform industry research, produce benchmarks and collect financial and operational KPIs Interact and communicate effectively with senior client executives and target’s management team What you bring to the role 2+ years of professional working experience with exposure to mergers & acquisitions and due diligence in a consulting, professional service, investment banking, private equity or corporate environment Previous experience in planning and/or implementing business performance improvement initiatives in an operational, financial, engineering or strategy role is considered a plus Previous involvement in cost savings, operational restructuring, turnaround activities and any operational improvement initiatives, is considered a plus Ability to interpret financial statements and evaluate financial performance of a business through analysis An undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or other technical field of study (i.e. Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics) preferred Relevant professional designations or graduate degrees viewed favourably (i.e. CFA, CPA, CBV, MBA, or M.Fin) Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word Keys to your success: Demonstrated experience working with senior management/managing multiple stakeholders Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfortable working with incomplete information and ability to make intelligent assumptions to produce high level estimates Organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work independently, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment often with multiple or competing deadlines Willingness to challenge, question and investigate facts, which is a key part of the due diligence process A motivated self-starter with a high level of attention to detail Willing to travel occasionally throughout Canada, with the potential to travel outside of Canada, as required by client commitments KPMG individuals Deliver Impact | Seek Growth | Inspire Trust and understand that a diverse workforce enables us to deepen relationships and strengthen our business.
