Janssen Research & Development, LLC, is seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated analytical and separation scientist to work in our laboratories in Beerse, Belgium, for the position of Senior/Principal Scientist – High Throughput Purification (HTP), Global Discovery Chemistry. This position will require the candidate to possess and leverage deep knowledge and capabilities in Analytical and Separation Sciences to lead a small High Throughput Purification (HTP) team to provide purification services to discovery chemists. Responsibilities of the Senior/Principal Scientist will include: Further design, develop and implement a highly efficient High Throughput Purification workflow at Beerse, Belgium site Lead the effort to identify, evaluate, introduce and apply cutting-edge purification capabilities to support both chemical library samples and singleton samples Lead independently an effective High Throughput Purification team to deliver fast turn-around achiral and chiral purification services to meet business needs by utilizing HPLC and SFC platforms including setting priorities and time frames in line with project- and team objectives/deliverables. Streamline the purification, compound registration and distribution workflow Maintain high level of productivity in the laboratory setting and significant personal laboratory presence with strong adaptability to a fast-paced environment Serve as a scientific expert and coach in High Throughput Purification with both internal and external partners, provide recommendations regarding best practices and emerging new capabilities in Separation Sciences and initiate ideas to improve the support Ensure optimal interaction/communication and provide updates to Discovery Chemistry leadership Collaborate closely with other experts across different sites, able to keep a global focus Qualifications A minimum of a Master degree in Chemistry or related field with 7+; PhD with 2+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with a proven tract record of managing people In-depth knolwdge and extensive experience in chromatogryphy. Expert knowledge of modern analytical and purification techniques, such as mass directed preparative HPLC and SFC Experience with lab automation and compound distribution logistics is a plus Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions and meeting project objectives are required Strong written and oral communication skills Excellent collaboration skills Primary Location Belgium-Antwerp-Beerse- Organization Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V.
