Structural Designer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for an <b>Intermediate Structural Designer</b>. Reporting to the Civil / Structural Department Manager this is a field position with base in our St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br>You will be part of the structural engineering team delivering projects in Mining, Power and Process industries. This includes structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings for buildings, equipment supports and foundations, substation structures/foundations, pipe racks, pipe supports and other miscellaneous structures. <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Responsibilities: </b> <br><br><ul><li> Two (2) weeks on rotation at site with two (2) week off </li><li> Utilize AutoCAD for design drawings </li><li> Application of of 3D software such as Revit or MicroStation or CADWorx or AutoCad Inventor will be considered an asset </li><li> During rotations at site, liase with client representatives and understand scope of work </li><li> Prepare conceptual and detailed CAD drawings after determining scope of work in field and with help from Engineers </li><li> Ability to take off quantities from drawings/ 3D models </li><li> Prepare drawings in compliance with client CAD standards </li><li>Willingness to work occasionally from home (on time off rotation) when required by client</li><li> Coordinating with other designers and work with external reference files in CAD environment </li><li> Work in a multi-disciplinary environment and co-operate with other team members </li></ul><br><br><b> Skills/Qualifications: </b> <br><ul><li> Diploma of Technology in a Structural program is preferred. </li><li> Good understanding of drafting fundamentals </li><li>Ability to perform field surveys and field measurements.</li><li> Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organization skills to handle multiple projects and tasks </li><li> Ability to work independently with some supervision </li><li> 8 to 10 years of experience working with 2D software such as AutoCAD </li><li> 3 to 5 years of experience working with any of the following 3D software such as, Revit/ MicroStation/ CADWorx / AutoCAD Inventor will be considered an asset </li><li> Demonstrate previous industrial work experience </li><li> Knowledge of Canadian structural steel and concrete standard designations and nomenclature and typical industrial standards </li><li> Excellent oral and written English communication skills are mandatory </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
