SCADA Specialist - Renewables

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting for a SCADA Specialist with experience in the renewable energy sector (PV solar, wind and battery energy storage). The SCADA Specialist is responsible for providing SCADA and Telecommunications design as well as construction and commissioning support to our electric utility, renewables and industrial clients. If you enjoy working with other professionals who believe in creating innovative solutions to problems, we encourage you to apply. <br><br>This position is located in our Oakville, Ontario, Office. <br><br><b> Responsibilities: </b><br><ul><li> Ensure Health and Safety and environmental regulations are followed methodically </li><li> Preparation of control schematics, network topology diagrams, panel general arrangements, and cable schedules </li><li> PLC Control Panel Design and Programming </li><li> Configuration of HMI/ SCADA Programing </li><li> Ensure conformity and completeness of engineering packages against project requirements </li><li> Preparation of specifications and bill of materials </li><li> Provide technical support during tendering, construction and commissioning </li></ul><br> Travel to client sites for short durations as required, perform site inspections. Candidate shall be comfortable to interacting with site construction crew (construction foreman, client and subcontractors) <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> University graduation, majoring in electrical engineering </li><li> Eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario PEO) </li><li> Minimum 2 years of experience in the utility, industrial or renewable energy sectors </li><li> Solid knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NERC CIP and CSA Standards and Local Codes </li><li> Attention to detail and pride in work quality </li><li> Knowledge of PV system major components (PV modules, combiner boxes, inverters, AC/DC LV and MV cabling) </li><li> Knowledge of wind turbine technologies including balance of plant design (AC cabling, major electrical components, collector design, MV and LV substation) </li><li> Excellent verbal, written communication skills </li><li> Strong client focus </li><li> Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude </li><li> Experience with: <ul><li> Standard industry design tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li> Canadian Electrical Code, local of codes and standards </li><li> PLC Programming - Allen Bradley, Siemens and Schneider/Modicon PLCs </li><li> HMI/SCADA/RTAC Programming - Factory TalkView, Wonderware, InTouch/Archestrsa, Inductive Ignition and GE Ifix </li><li> Network Architecture Design </li><li> Collector system fiber optic network design including fiber optic loss calculations. </li><li> RTU programming and commissioning </li><li> Firewalls, VPNs, WAN configuration </li><li> SCADA integration of vendor supplied equipment (solar inverters, wind turbines, power plant controllers, HV and MV substation equipment, security, and fire alarm systems) </li><li> Protection and control experience for utility substations and generating stations desirable. </li><li> Working in multi-discipline teams. </li><li> Specification writing </li><li> Proposal writing </li><li> Report writing </li><li> Field SCADA integration and site inspections and commissioning. </li></ul></li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
